Northern California gets all the attention when it comes to venture capital investment. But Southern California does VC, too, just not at quite the same scale as Silicon Valley. That will have to change as SoCal moves into the 21st century. Our panelists discussed the state of VC in Los Angeles, Orange Country, San Diego, and elsewhere. They also debated the challenges that Southern California faces in attracting it share of startup investment and talked about the new industries that could define SoCal over the coming decades. Matthew DeBord, DeBord Report business and economy blogger for KPCC moderated the panel of guests featuring Benjamin Kuo, Founder and Publisher, socalTECH, Alex Maleki, Idealab’s New Ventures Group and Nate Redmond, Managing Partner, Rustic Canyon.
