Supreme Court Justice Sonia Sotomayor in conversation with Patt Morrison
In a special event, KPCC's Patt Morrison talked with United States Supreme Court Justice Sonia Sotomayor in the Crawford Family Forum. Justice Sotomayor is the most recent appointee and the first Latina to sit on the Supreme Court. In her new autobiography My Beloved World, she recounts her life journey beginning in the housing projects of the Bronx, studying as an affirmative action student at Princeton and Yale Law School, and eventually climbing through the judicial ranks all the way to the Supreme Court. Throughout this journey, Justice Sotomayor’s vivacious, extroverted personality and commitment to opening avenues of opportunity into the elite power structures of this country have made her one of the most compelling figures in our government today.
In front of a live audience, including local students, Patt’s conversation with Justice Sotomayor was an engaging look into the life of this civic trailblazer. It was a truly unique opportunity to meet a woman who ascended from humble backgrounds to the highest ranks of government and power in the United States.
