Craft in America on PBS
"Craft In America," the Peabody Award-winning PBS documentary series, explores America’s creative spirit through the language and traditions of the handmade. With nineteen shows produced since 2007, the series takes viewers on a journey to the artists, origins and techniques of American craft. Each episode contains stories from diverse regions and cultures, blending history with living practice and exploring issues of identity, ritual, philosophy and creative expression.
Craft in America: CALIFORNIA explores the diverse craft heritage, traditions, influences and innovations in the Golden State. Artists include Pomo basket weaver Corine Pearce, textile artist Deborah Cross, silversmith Randy Stromsoe, stained glass artists at Judson Studios, and cabinet makers James and Jack Ipekjian.
Craft in America: VISIONARIES documents the ways in which artists and influencers create new methods and inspire new generations to envision the limitless possibilities of craft. Artists include weaver Kay Sekimachi, textile designer and founder of the LongHouse Reserve Jack Lenor Larsen, and performance and book artist Felicia Rice.
