KPCC reporter Priska Neely has the unique job of covering arts education in Southern California, and she focuses on a range of issues from policy and standards to arts integration and innovation. She regularly talks to students who, despite their passion, are hesitant or afraid to pursue a career in the arts because of concerns over being a “starving artist.” Meanwhile, arts educators and advocates are trying to combat the idea that arts careers cannot be lucrative and putting more emphasis on the number of jobs in the Los Angeles area that are tied to the arts.

If the arts are part of your career, we want to hear how you’ve navigated career pressures and what you’ve done to “make it." Your insights will help shape an upcoming KPCC In Person event.

We will read every response but nothing is published without your permission.
