LA Lakers star Kobe Bryant told the audience at Michael Jackson’s memorial that the entertainer behind “Thriller” didn’t just set records for the most albums sold.

Kobe Bryant: "Michael always cared very deeply for those in need and beyond all of his records that he broke as a recording artist. Michael even made the Guinness book of World Records for most charities supported by a pop star."

During the two-and-a-half hour event at Staples Center, people who knew the late King of Pop tried to re-focus attention on the prodigious creative artist and humanitarian – and away from the man whose life seemed to spin out of control before his death last month at age 50.
