Police are looking for a man who assaulted a Culver City councilman outside his bar early Sunday morning.
KPCC’s Molly Peterson has more.

Mehaul O’Leary owns Joxer Daly, an Irish pub on Washington Boulevard near Sepulveda. A Culver City official told a local newspaper that O’Leary refused to serve a man a drink after 2 in the morning, when the bar was shut down and it’s illegal to serve alcohol. Instead the bar owner escorted the man to the parking lot.

Police believe that’s when 28-year old Robert Anthony Singerman hit O’Leary, knocking him to the pavement. Culver City police have a warrant out for Singerman’s arrest.

O’Leary, a native of Dublin, Ireland, ran for office saying he’d dreamed of living in the United States after he read about American government on the back of a corn flakes box. At Culver City’s council meeting this week, colleagues wished him a speedy recovery. O’Leary remains in the hospital.
