If you’re craving a deep-fried Krispy Kreme chicken sandwich, you can find one for the next month at the Fairplex in Pomona. That’s where the Los Angeles County Fair opens Saturday.

“Chicken Charlie” Boghosian calls himself Southern California’s fried food king. He’s a regular vendor at the L.A. and Orange County fairs. Boghosian told KPCC’s Larry Mantle he can deep-fry just about anything.

"Chicken Charlie" Boghosian: “There’s a small art to deep frying. I mean, you gotta have the right oil, you gotta have the right temperatures, you have the right type of batter. There’s many different for many different foods. If you mix the wrong batter, it’s not going to taste right, and you may not like it as much.”

“Chicken Charlie” offers an array of sauces to top off his fried delights.

The L.A. County Fair continues through October 4th.
