Who’s got Labor Day off?

In honor of organized labor, many folks are planning a day of good old un-organized leisure. That includes most public employees. KPCC’s Cheryl Devall runs down the list.

Mail carriers, judges, and librarians? They’ve got the day off. So do schoolteachers, bank tellers, and non-emergency personnel in local, state, and federal offices. In most of Los Angeles, Orange, Riverside, and San Bernardino counties, garbage pickup that’s usually scheduled for Mondays will happen tomorrow.

Orange County Transit buses will operate as they would on any Monday. But L.A. County’s Metro and Foothill Transit are on weekend schedules, with fewer runs than on a typical Monday. Same goes for The Riverside Transit Agency. San Bernardino’s Omnitrans and the Metrolink commuter rail system will not offer any service today, but they’ll return to business as usual tomorrow.
