Los Angeles City Councilwoman Janice Hahn plans to run for lieutenant governor in the year ahead. She's signed up a campaign team with a lot of experience.

Hahn, a Democrat, has chosen Garry South to be her chief strategist. South managed Gray Davis’ two successful runs for governor.

Michael Trujillo is managing Hahn’s campaign. Trujillo was California field director for Hillary Clinton's 2008 presidential campaign.

Hahn has hired John Shallman as senior campaign consultant. Shallman managed Hahn’s most recent City Council re-election campaign.

Joe Trippi will be Hahn’s consultant for media and social networking. He was the national campaign manager for Howard Dean's 2004 presidential bid.

Hahn’s opponents in the democratic primary could include State Senators Alan Lowenthal of Long Beach and Dean Flores of the Central Valley.

Governor Schwarzenegger named Republican state senator Abel Maldonado his lieutenant governor. Maldonado has said he'd campaign to hold onto that job.
