ALHAMBRA — Police say a student has been arrested for investigation of weapons possession after he was found with two handguns — one of them loaded — at a high school in Alhambra.
Police later arrested a second student in connection with the incident Wednesday.
Alhambra police Sgt. Brandon Black said the guns were found about 1:30 p.m. during a random spot search by a private security firm at Mark Keppel High School.
An assistant principal found an unloaded gun after noticing a junior acting strangely with his backpack. When the administrator searched the bag, he found the weapon and called police. The school was locked down for about three hours.
Black says an officer then found a loaded gun in the student's waistband.
Detectives are investigating why the boy had the guns.
