Police chase through Hollywood ends in crash, arrest

Police arrested a driver who led them on a chase through Hollywood that ended with a collision this evening, authorities said.

No one was hurt in the 18-minute chase, said Los Angeles police Sgt. Cathy Reyes of the Olympic Station. The suspect allegedly had pulled a gun on undercover vice officers.

The white sport utility vehicle struck a car at Sixth Street and Western Avenue about 6:30 p.m., but no one was seriously hurt, she said. The name of the suspect was not immediately available. He is likely to be booked on suspicion of assault with deadly weapon against a police officer, Reyes said.

Vice officers in an unmarked car were patrolling when the white SUV pulled alongside. The driver exchanged glances with the officers, then pulled a gun and yelled at them.

"What the ---- are you guys looking at?'' he said, according to Reyes.

Marked patrol cars were called to handle the pursuit, which wound through Hollywood before ending in a collision.
