Woman fatally struck by vehicle on Pacific Coast Highway

A woman was fatally struck by a Chevrolet Silverado while walking across Pacific Coast (1) Highway in Huntington Beach, according to authorities.

The accident on PCH near 5th Street was reported to the California Highway Patrol at 9:20 p.m. Thursday, a CPH dispatcher said.

The woman was hit by a Silverado whose driver did not see her, CHP Officer P. Nelson told an On Scene Video camera crew. The Orange County coroner's office took the body from the scene around 11 p.m.

Marc Hammad, owner of Surf Liquor and Fine Wine on Pacific Coast Highway, said there is no crosswalk where the accident occurred.

Hammad said he knew the deceased woman, whom he described as "a really nice lady" who cleaned homes in affluent neighborhoods and lived in a condominium across the road from his store.

An investigation of the crash concluded early today. No criminal charges will be filed, said investigating CHP Officer B. Gonzalez.
