Man trimming trees in Pasadena dies after fall

PASADENA — A man died while trimming palm trees at a Pasadena home when he fell and landed in the fronds of another tree, a fire department spokesperson said.

The incident occurred in the 500 block of Oak Knoll Avenue, near California Boulevard, about 11 a.m., Pasadena Fire Department spokesperson Lisa Derderian said.

The man, an independent contractor, was trimming trees at a residence when he fell from about 80 feet and landed on some fronds about 60 feet off the ground, Derderian said.

The cause of death was not immediately known, she said.

The man, believed to be in his 30s, was pronounced dead at the scene, she said.

Firefighters were attempting to remove his body from the tree, she said.
