Riverside woman dies in Golden State Freeway crash north of downtown LA

A 42-year-old Riverside woman died in a fiery crash on the Golden State (5) Freeway just north of downtown Los Angeles that left a girl with burns to her legs, authorities said today.

The crash in southbound lanes near Glendale Boulevard was reported at 10:54 p.m. Monday, and paramedics took three people to hospitals – the woman, who was in cardiac arrest, a 35-year-old man in serious condition with a possible head injury and burns and a girl estimated to be 6 years old with burns to her legs, according to Lauren deRosier of the Los Angeles Fire Department.

Initial reports indicated a vehicle may have stalled and was struck by another vehicle, California Highway Patrol Officer Anthony Martin said.

The woman who died was identified by the CHP as a 42-year-old Riverside woman. Her name was unavailable early today.
