New charges filed against accused LA forger

Los Angeles prosecutors have filed a set of seven new charges against a man suspected of making illegal weapons parts and printing money in his downtown loft.

Brian Alexik pleaded not guilty to the amended complaint Thursday. In addition to felony weapons charges, he now is accused of several narcotics offenses and forging money.

The 34-year-old was the subject of a manhunt after fleeing from police checking on his apartment. Officers found a pair of high-powered binoculars and a tripod by the rear window, which had a direct view of a neighboring federal building.

Investigators found no evidence of a plan involving the building but remain somewhat baffled as to Alexik's motivations for allegedly printing cash and making weapons parts.
