L.A. County sheriffs and Pasadena police are on the scene at Del Mar Boulevard near Arroyo Parkway in Pasadena investigating a fatality on one of the tracks of the Metro Gold line.

Metro Spokesman Jose Ubaldo explains what happened.

“This morning around 5:34 one of our trains going southbound to Union Station was just leaving the station right here when a pedestrian crossed in front of the trains. All the warnings were working properly... lights, bells, horns, everything. So we actually don’t know exactly what happened. The Sheriff’s Department is doing the investigation right now.”

Ubaldo said the victim is an African-American male. The man, about 40, died at the scene of the injury, which occurred about 5:40 a.m. The train involved in the incident has been taken out of service. Forty-five people were on that train, but nobody was injured.
