Small brush fire burns 5 acres in Castaic

A small brush fire burning near Castaic Road and Lake Hughes Road in Castaic has been extinguished, according to a Los Angeles County Fire Department dispatcher.

The brush fire burned through five acres of brush but no structures were threatened and no one was hurt, a county fire official said.

The fire was reported at 5:06 p.m. at Castaic Road and Lake Hughes Road, said Capt. Frank Reynoso of the Los Angeles County Fire Department.

"We were able to hold the fire to five acres,'' Reynoso said. "There were no injuries, no evacuations and no structures threatened.''

The blaze was under control by 5:52 p.m., he said.

The cause of the fire was unknown.
