Bomb squad determines suspicious package at USC no threat

A suspicious package later determined to be harmless prompted the evacuation today of the Hedco Neuro Sciences Building on the USC campus.

A Los Angeles Police Department bomb squad was sent to the building in the 3600 block of McClintock Avenue at 1:15 p.m., said Officer April Harding of the department's Media Relations Section.

USC students received a TrojanAlert advising them of the package and evacuation.

The LAPD cordoned off an area surrounding the building, but the package was retrieved and determined to be safe around 3 p.m., according to police and the university.
