LAPD says it will crack down on wild bike riders

Los Angeles police say bike riders who go wild will find themselves with a ticket or a trip to jail.

The Los Angeles Times says the LAPD vowed this week to cite or arrest bikers who break the law during mass rides.

That follows a Friday night incident in the Venice area where hundreds of cyclists broke away from the main pack and swarmed a supermarket parking lot.

Police say some riders drank and smoked marijuana while a half-dozen rode through the store aisles.

Three people were cited and one person was arrested on suspicion of hitting a police officer.
