2 sinkholes close westbound Katella Avenue in Anaheim

ANAHEIM - Two sinkholes that opened up on Katella Avenue in Anaheim today prompted city officials to close a block-long section of the westbound lanes.

The sinkholes developed near a storm drain project, Maria Sabol of the Anaheim Fire Department said, and westbound lanes were closed near Easy Way shortly before 11 a.m.

Eastbound traffic was funneled into one lane in the area to allow westbound traffic to pass, she said.

One hole was about 30-by-10 feet, and the other was about 20-by-20 feet, Sabol said.
