Controversial rave moves from LA to Las Vegas

An electronic music festival that prompted a moratorium on raves at the Los Angeles Memorial Coliseum after a teenager died of a drug overdose is moving to Las Vegas.

The Electric Daisy Carnival was scheduled to be held at the stadium June 24-25. However, event producer Pasquale Rotella said in a statement Thursday that a contract with the Coliseum has not been finalized, making it difficult to plan ahead for the event.

The statement alluded to recent events that have made producing a rave in Los Angeles "an insurmountable challenge."

The Coliseum commission imposed a temporary moratorium on raves after a 15-year-old girl overdosed on Ecstasy at last June's event and died.

A venue in Las Vegas has not been announced.
