Northbound 101 reopens after closing following man being hit, killed in downtown Los Angeles

A man was struck and killed in a traffic lane of the northbound Hollywood (101) Freeway in downtown L.A. early this morning after darting into traffic, the California Highway Patrol said.

A woman called the CHP at 4:24 a.m. to say the pedestrian had run in lanes, according to a CHP statement. He was described as a man about 50 years old.

All northbound lanes of the Hollywood Freeway were shut down at Alameda Street after Monday's 4:24 a.m. freeway crash at Alameda Street for the investigation. Northbound lanes were reopened at 6 a.m.

A local wire service and KTTV Fox 11 say there are no details about the man who was killed.
