Man shot and killed in South LA after approached by man on bicycle

A man was shot and killed Monday morning in South Los Angeles after he got into an argument with a man who approached him on a bicycle, officials said.

Police have detained three people for questioning said LAPD Sgt. Mitzi Fierro.

Firefighters responded to a call at 8:49 a.m. on the 100 block of W. 85th Street and transported a 25- to 28- year-old man to the hospital, said LAPD Officer Gregory Baek. The man later died of his injuries, Baek said.

Police believe the victim was standing in front of the location when another man approached him on a bicycle, Baek said.

"At some point they argued with each other and at some point the suspect took out a gun and shot the victim," Baek said.

Detectives are looking into whether the incident is gang related, Baek said. He said the investigation is ongoing.

Anyone with information is asked to call the LAPD at 213-485-4164.
