The L.A. City Council approved a $50,000 reward for information in finding a suspect in the killing of Emmanuel Vargas, a 29-year-old who was fatally shot in Boyle Heights last year, The Eastsider LA reports.

According to their report:

“Detectives hope that a monetary reward compels members of the public to provide more information,” according to the motion introduced by Councilman Jose Huizar.

When officers arrived at the crime scene around 3:20 p.m. June 7, 2012, they found Vargas in the roadway suffering from multiple gunshot wounds.  The motive appeared to be gang-related, LAPD said in a 2012 statement.

Police ask that anyone with information regarding this crime is urged to contact Hollenbeck Division homicide detectives at (323) 342-8953 or (323) 342-8996. Anyone wishing to remain anonymous should call Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-TIPS (800-222-8477).
