Update 2:40 p.m.: Santa Clarita brush fire expected to be contained Sunday evening

The small brush fire that sparked road closures and evacuations Friday night is expected to be fully contained by Sunday evening, according to the U.S. Forest Service.

Spokesman Ryan Carey said the fire was about 70 percent contained Sunday afternoon. Crews were attempting to extend a fire line, and mopping up the smoldering brush that was creeping along the mountainside.

They're going through and mopping it up. It will be contained by tonight," Carey said. "And most of it will just be monitoring patrol, getting hot spots, that type of stuff."

The fire briefly closed down the San Francisquito Canyon Road on Friday. All roads are open Sunday. There are no evacuations in affect, Carey said.
