Updated 2:15 p.m.: The power is still out for almost 700 Southern California Edison customers in Marina Del Rey and Venice.

Four thousand customers were initially affected by the outage that began at 8:20 this morning. An Edison spokeswoman estimated power would not be fully restored to the remaining customers affected until 10 p.m.

Crews have determined the outage was caused by an underground equipment failure.

1:46 p.m.: More than 4,000 Southern California Edison customers were without power in Marina Del Rey and Venice on Thursday morning.

An Edison spokeswoman said power has been restored for 2,500 customers after the outage at 8:20 a.m, but it was still unclear what caused it.

Edison had initially said power would be fully restored by noon. It does not have an estimate for when power will be fully restored to the remaining 1,700 customers affected.

An updated map on Edison's website indicates the number of customers affected may be down to 685. You can follow updates there.
