A planned peace march starting at 11:30 a.m. Saturday in Anaheim is part of on-going efforts to heal the community after gang shootings and the officer-involved shooting deaths of two Latino men last year.
The group, along with neighborhood residents and people from other areas of Orange County, plan to walk less than a mile along La Palma Avenue in Anaheim.
"So much bloodshed has happened, so much violence has happened in this city," said Joanne Sosa with the East Street Community Renewal Initiative, which is coordinating the march. "It's a very quiet procession, it's not a protest. We're asking people of all faiths to come together so we can simply walk and ask for this healing in a city that so desperately needs it."
Sosa said there will be messages of hope and unity before and after the walk.
The Procession For Peace is scheduled to start at 11:30 a.m. at St. Anthony Claret Church, 1450 E. La Palma Avenue, Anaheim.
