Four men are in custody after a hostage situation early Saturday morning at a home in Lincoln Heights.

Police say they got a 911 call around 1:30 a.m. about a robbery in progress. Neighbors reported seeing men walking towards a house with guns.

When police arrived, one of the four suspects fled and was arrested. Two of the residents inside the home were able to escape, but a third person was still inside.

LAPD Lieutenant Andy Neiman says the hostage was able to convince two of the suspects to exit the home.

"The victim, who was being held hostage by these two suspects, actually convinced the two suspects to pretend that they were hostages and then just walk out of the house. That didn't work out quite so well for the two suspects," Neiman said.

Neiman says the two suspects were taken into custody by a SWAT team. The last suspect was found hiding in the backyard.
