A woman's body that may have been dumped in a garbage bin has been found at an Orange County trash sorting facility.

Anaheim police Lt. Tim Schmidt said a worker found the body on a conveyor belt at the Republic Services plant around 10:30 a.m. Friday.

Schmidt said the woman was believed to be between 20 and 40 years old. A press release put out by the Orange County Sheriff's Department states the woman may have been at least 30 years old and had short wavy hair. The press release, provided below, shows photos of clothing recovered with the remains.

The body had been exposed for at least six months, according to the press release. Investigators were having difficulty identifying the woman because her body was covered by dust and debris, Schmidt said.

"The decedent had a very distinct gold colored dental bridge on her left lower jaw and possibly had a broken nose at some point in her life," the press release stated.

The body was discovered on a belt where recyclables are sorted from trash and yard waste.

There's no immediate word on the cause of death, but a homicide investigation is underway.
