A homeless man who pleaded no contest to voluntary manslaughter in the stabbing of a woman outside the Hollywood & Highland Center has been sentenced to 12 years in prison.

A jury failed to reach a verdict in Dustin James Kinnear's murder trial last month. City News Service reports Kinnear was sentenced Friday.

Another defendant, Jason Joel Wolstone, pleaded no contest in April to assault and received two years in prison.

In June 2013 the victim, Christina Calderon, was attacked after she and a friend took a photograph of three men outside the Hollywood & Highland Center and declined to give them money.

Prosecutors say Wolstone pushed Calderon and put her in a headlock and Kinnear stabbed her.
