A man was attacked in Griffith Park has been airlifted to a local hospital in critical condition, as police searched nearby trails without success for the assailant, L.A. police and firefighters said Monday.

Paramedics arrived and picked the injured man up by helicopter, L.A. Fire Department spokesman Erik Scott said.
"We had firefighter and paramedic assistance from the ground and air," said Scott. "We did lower that firefighter-paramedic from the helicopter who was able to perform a rapid assessment. They hoisted that injured person into the helicopter, treated and transported him to a hospital in critical condition."
The incident is being investigated as investigation is an assault with a deadly weapon, Kim said, but the circumstances are not yet clear.
There is no information on the identity of a possible suspect, she added.
