Best Friends Animal Society in Los Angeles is stretching Black Friday into a 62-hour marathon and the first 100 adopters will get pets for $10.

The shelter will throw in ID tags, bags of food and one month of pet insurance. All pets are spayed or neutered, vaccinated and microchipped.

Shelter spokesman Marc Peralta says it gives people a chance to get lap dogs instead of laptops, smart cats instead of smart phones and big breeds instead of big screens.

Peralta says the marathon is the perfect time to get a family pet and adoption specialists will be there around the clock to help people find the perfect pet.

The no-kill shelter is located in the Mission Hills section of Los Angeles.
