An American couple has arrived in Los Angeles after being cleared in the death of their adopted 8-year-old daughter in Qatar.

The David House Agency, which represents Matthew and Grace Huang, says they arrived on Thursday.

The agency tweeted, "Mission accomplished. Matt and Grace are in Los Angeles. They have not stopped smiling."

The couple's return brings an end to a nearly two-year legal saga they say was rooted in confusion over cross-cultural adoption.

The couple's last moments at the Qatar airport on Wednesday were a tense experience that brought Grace Huang to tears at one point when her husband was held up for several minutes on the other side of passport control.
