A 15-year-old boy has been fatally stabbed in front of an East Los Angeles middle school, and authorities are looking for another boy who attacked him.

Sheriff's and school district officials say the boy was declared dead at a hospital after the stabbing shortly after school let out on Friday afternoon. Sheriff's deputies are looking for the boy who stabbed him, and homicide detectives are investigating the killing.

Los Angeles Unified School District spokeswoman Monica Carazo says the boy was stabbed with a sharp object, but it wasn't clear what it was.

The victim is a student in the district, but it's not clear whether he or the boy who stabbed him are students at the middle school.
