An Amber Alert was issued by the CHP on Monday for a 1-year-old boy last seen in San Pedro after his father attacked his ex-girlfriend's new boyfriend.
Harbor Patrol officers responded to a call around 1:30 in the morning on Monday regarding a stabbing, Officer Rosario Herrera from the Los Angeles Police Department told KPCC.
Herrera said 37-year-old Giovany Santiago-Enriquez entered his ex-girlfriend's home through an unlocked door, went into her bedroom and stabbed her new boyfriend numerous times.
Santiago-Enriquez and his ex-girlfriend, mother of the boy, share custody of the 1-year-old, according to a statement from the Los Angeles Police Department.
The statement said the mother suffered minor injuries. Officer Herrera said the mother's boyfriend is in stable condition.
According to the CHP, Jayden Nathaniel Santiago, 1, was taken by his father, Giovany Santiago-Enriquez, after the violent altercation between the child's mother and her current boyfriend in San Pedro.
He then ran from the scene.
It is believed that Santiago-Enriquez is on the run with the boy and may be headed toward to the Pacific Northwest or Mexico. The CHP's release indicated his car is a gray Nissan Altima.
The suspect has a history of suicide attempts and according to the CHP is armed and dangerous.
