4:35 p.m.: Fullerton brush fire under control

Authorities say firefighters have controlled a brush fire in Fullerton that prompted the voluntary evacuation of homes and a recreational area near the Brea Dam.

Deputy Fire Chief Julie Kunze of the Fullerton Fire Department told KNX-AM that the fire grew to about 12 acres Saturday afternoon before firefighters brought it under control.

She said the flames came several hundred feet to homes.

The cause of the fire is under investigation.

3:57 p.m.: Brush fire in Fullerton caused evacuations

A brush fire in Fullerton is forcing the evacuation of the Fullerton Sports Complex and nearby Fullerton Golf Course.

The size of the fire isn't immediately clear, but the Orange County Fire Authority is sending six units and a helicopter to help the Fullerton Fire Department. The Anaheim Fire & Rescue department is assisting.

A column of smoke can be seen from downtown Fullerton.
