Santa Ana Mayor Miguel Pulido has agreed to pay $13,000 in fines stemming from a land swap with a businessman who later landed a $1.35 million, no-bid contract from the city.
The Orange County Register reported Monday that Pulido committed six violations of the state's Political Reform Act. One of the violations included voting to renew the city contract of auto parts provider Rupen Akoubian four months after Akoubian gave a house to Pulido in exchange for a parking lot.
Additional charges could be filed by District Attorney Tony Rackauckas. DA spokeswoman Roxi Fyad said the office, which worked on the investigation with the state Fair Political Practice Commission, is reviewing the matter.
Pulido said he was pleased with the resolution but declined to discuss specifics of the case.
