Southern California can expect soaring temperatures this week, with triple digits expected in some areas.
“What we have is a high pressure system building over the region,” said Stewart Seto at the National Weather Service. “By the weekend, the center of the high will be directly overhead.”
Temperatures in Downtown Los Angeles will be near 100 degrees, with highs in the valleys around 100 degrees. Temperatures in the Antelope Valley, including the Lancaster and Palmdale areas, will range around 102 to 107 degrees.
The weekend will be warmer than normal in beach areas, with temperatures in the 70s.
“If you want to get out of the hot weather, heading towards the beach is a good way to go, or the cooling centers, maybe a mall or a movie,” said Seto.
