Three water main breaks sent torrents of water down streets in separate areas of Los Angeles.
The Department of Water and Power says the ruptures occurred early Friday in Hollywood, Hollywood Hills and Silver Lake.
Television news footage showed water halfway up the doors of cars parked along streets.
In Silver Lake, an LADWP truck became stuck in a sinkhole, according to KNBC-TV.
No damage estimates have been released.
Utility crews were sent to handle the problems.
It wasn't immediately known what caused the breaks or whether they are related.
