Biden road closures: What you need to know when the VP is in town Wednesday

Vice President Joe Biden will be making an appearance in the Los Angeles area Wednesday afternoon. 

The White House says the vice president will be speaking about the importance of increasing the minimum wage at a local business in North Hollywood. While many of the related closures will take place in NoHo, motorists should be aware of road closures and potential delays in other L.A. areas beginning Tuesday night.

Here are the streets and surrounding areas the LAPD says will be affected, based on what they've been told by the Secret Service:

Tuesday 7/21
Sepulveda Boulevard between Lincoln Boulevard & Century Boulevard from 9 p.m.to 11 p.m.
Santa Monica Boulevard between Sawtelle Boulevard and Wilshire Boulevard from 9:30 p.m. to 11:30 p.m.
Wilshire Boulevard between Santa Monica Boulevard and Beverly Drive from 9:30 p.m. to 11:30 p.m.

The LAPD says there will be no southbound traffic allowed on Rodeo Drive or El Camino Drive from Wilshire Boulevard starting at 10 p.m. Tuesday until 11 a.m. Thursday. 

Wednesday 7/22
Wilshire Boulevard between Beverly Drive and Santa Monica Boulevard from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. and 2 p.m. to 4 p.m.
Wilshire Boulevard between San Vicente Boulevard and Santa Monica Boulevard from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m.
Laurel Canyon Boulevard between Moorpark Street and Vanowen Street from 12 p.m. to 3 p.m.

The LAPD says there will be a hard closure on Tujunga Avenue between Sherman Way and Vanowen Street from 12:45 p.m. to 2:15 p.m.

Thursday 7/23
Wilshire Boulevard between Santa Monica Boulevard and Beverly Drive from 9 a.m. to 11 a.m.
Santa Monica Boulevard between Sawtelle Boulevard and Wilshire Boulevard from 9 a.m. to 11 a.m.
Sepulveda Boulevard between Lincoln Boulevard & Century Boulevard from 9:30 a.m. to 11:30 a.m.

Metro riders: Check for alternate routes

While bus routes will be affected for short periods, the LAPD says riders won't experience much of an impact during Biden's visit. If you're on a tight schedule, the LAPD advises you to visit the Metro website for alternate routes.
