West Hollywood hired YouTuber/drag queen Willam Belli to help spread the word that La Cienega Boulevard is closed until mid-September between Fountain and Sunset. The closure started Monday.

Belli tackles the news in a series of new video shorts titled "The WeHoans," which riffs off of "Saturday Night Live's" "The Californians" — itself a soap opera spoof of Angelenos' accents and proclivity to mull insanely detailed alternate driving directions. The characters are drawn directly from "The Californians," with a convincing Fred Armisen lookalike, and even include the same musical cues and loving looks into the mirror at the end of the sketch.

Belli's also teaming with "RuPaul's Drag Race" winner Bianca Del Rio as his co-star. Check the credits and you'll see their names right alongside that of the West Hollywood City Council.

In addition to the video, the city has also been posting signs, mailing flyers, and doing all the traditional methods or promoting news like this, while also evolving their message.

It's not the first time West Hollywood has turned to creative YouTube stars to promote playful public service announcements. To whit: Todrick Hall's videos promoting citywide elections and text-free driving or walking.
