A 40-year-old man is dead after being shot by LAPD officers in Los Feliz Wednesday afternoon.

Officers responded to a call at the 4100 block of Willimet Street at about 12:20 p.m. and saw a man who appeared to be armed with a shotgun or rifle, LAPD Officer Liliana Preciado told KPCC.

An LAPD airship guided officers to the suspect and an officer-involved shooting occurred, in which the suspect was injured.

“The suspect was taken into custody and transported to a local hospital where he died of his injuries,” said Preciado.

Officers then discovered a 55-year-old woman who they believe had been shot dead by the suspect.

The specific relationship between the suspect and the victim is unknown beyond that they had a familial connection, said Preciado.

No officers were harmed, said Preciado, but an investigation is underway.
