A suicide is believed to have helped ignite the Tassajara Fire that burned 10 homes in Monterey County last weekend, officials told KPCC.

"The investigation is definitely ongoing, and it will take some time to get all the results in," Scott McLean, battalion chief with Cal Fire, told KPCC.

Cal Fire and the Monterey County Sheriff's Department conducted a joint investigation after discovering  a body outside of a burned-out car.

The identity of the victim has not been disclosed by officials, and officials are not yet releasing additional information about the incident.

The fire continues to burn 2 miles north of Jamesburg.
