The National Weather Service has issued an Urban Flood Advisory for the Los Angeles Basin, including downtown L.A., Burbank and Glendale. Boyle Heights was hit by flooding Monday afternoon.
Heavy showers have been producing rain between 0.25 and 0.5 inches, NWS weather specialist Stuart Seto told KPCC, with rain coming from Torrance up through the L.A. Basin.
"What we're concerned about more than anything is the drainage," Seto said. He said that in urban areas with poor drainage, there could be curb-to-curb flooding.
Seto also said that this rain would significantly affect people's afternoon commute.
"People really need to slow down on the roads," Seto said. "This will probably go on for a couple hours into this evening as these heavy showers develop and drop rains across those areas."
There was flooding in Boyle Heights on South Bernal Avenue due to clogged drains, according to the L.A. Fire Department.
