Inmate dies after Los Angeles County jail attack

Authorities say a Los Angeles County jail inmate has died after he was attacked by another inmate.

The Sheriff's Department says it happened shortly after 5:30 a.m. Wednesday at the Twin Towers Correctional Facility in downtown Los Angeles.

The inmate died at the scene and his attacker has been detained.

Homicide detectives are investigating but details of the assault haven't been released.
