Baby taken in stolen minivan outside LA is found safe after Amber Alert

A 1-year-old boy has been found safe after a thief stole the minivan in which he was riding.

Police say the baby was found inside the minivan Thursday evening in Pico Rivera, east of Los Angeles.

No arrests have been made.

The boy, Caleb Castro, was missing for about four hours after a thief ordered his two young sisters out of the Honda Odyssey and took off from a recycling center in neighboring Montebello.

Police say the boy's mother had left the keys in the minivan while she stepped away to recycle some materials. Police say a man drove off as the mother screamed that her baby was still inside.

An Amber Alert was issued and police say someone reported seeing the parked minivan around 7 p.m.
