Man shot, killed by officers in San Fernando Valley

Police shot and killed a suspect in San Fernando Monday afternoon, the Los Angeles County Sheriff's Department said. 

The man was hit by gunfire and pronounced dead at the scene, according to a statement released by the department.

The shooting was reported at San Fernando Road and Hubbard Street, according to the statement. Sheriff's officials were assisting the San Fernando Police Department in investigating the shooting.

Aerial footage from NBC L.A. showed multiple damaged cars that crashed at the scene. The Los Angeles Times reports another man was taken to the hospital. 

The Los Angeles Police Department was assisting in investigating the shooting.
