After a major drug bust early Wednesday by the LAPD and other local and federal agencies, 19 suspects were arrested  for possession of cocaine, methamphetamine and heroin.

Twenty search warrants were served at different locations and over $200 million in cash was confiscated, LAPD officer Tony Im told KPCC.

The investigation that led to these arrests has been ongoing since March of last year and wiretaps were used to make the bust, he said.

Im said that he could not confirm whether Derrick Turner, a man police are calling the kingpin of a major crime organization on Los Angeles’s Skid Row, was among those arrested.

“He was a mastermind of dealing narcotics on the Skid Row area, so they’re naming him as a kingpin,” he said.

Police are continuing the investigation and will continue to follow leads and detain suspects who are selling narcotics, Im said.
