A motorcycle officer with the Los Angeles Police Department shot and killed a man during a traffic stop in South L.A. Tuesday afternoon, according to a department spokesman and a report from the Associated Press.
The officer-involved shooting occurred around 3:30 p.m. in the 400 block of West Century Boulevard.
“During the traffic stop, a passenger exited the vehicle and an OIS took place,” said Officer Tony Im. The suspect, who has not been identified, was taken to a local hospital.
Police recovered two handguns at the scene, according to Im.
When the shooting occurred, the driver fled in a dark sedan, said Im. Officers are searching for the car.
