Taste of Mexico

It isn't really hard to find good Mexican food in the Southland, but why not head over to the heart of the city to have the best of it all? A passport to this annual food event will score you unlimited tastings from over 35 of L.A.'s Mexican restaurants and all-you-can-drink pours of tequila, mezcal, micheladas and beer, of course. Top it all off with live music and photo booth and you've got yourself a solid weekend excursion — if you're over 21.

More than 85 craft beers will be on tap from brew houses like Golden Road Brewing Company, Lagunitas Brewing Company and so many more. If you're a designated driver, the street fair will be free. Pro-tip: If you're going to go to any Oktoberfest, you might want to check out the Vegan Oktoberfest

You'll have the option to purchase any of the drawings after. All proceeds benefit the center's future exhibitions.

Long Beach Zombie Festival

Warning: this pick is not for the faint of heart. If you're willing to immerse yourself in a three-day zombie outbreak with music, horror and everything related to the undead, this one's for you. With everything from interactive scare zones to "Thriller" dance workshops — not to mention the zombie crawls everyday of the festival — true Halloween fanatics won't want to miss out. Pro tip: Not so much into the whole walking dead thing? Head over to the Convention Center for an illuminated display of ornately hand-carved pumpkins or to an actual pumpkin patch for a more mellow spook.

WHERE: Rainbow Lagoon Park, Long Beach | MAP
